Don Lam
Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, VinaCapital Group

Don Lam is a founding partner of VinaCapital Group, with over 15 years experience in Vietnam. He has overseen the Group’s growth from manager of a single USD10 million fund in 2003 into a full-featured investment firm managing numerous listed and unlisted funds, and offering a complete range of corporate finance and real estate advisory services. Before founding VinaCapital, Don was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Vietnam), where he led the Corporate Finance and Management Consulting practices throughout the Indochina region. Don has also held management positions at Deutsche Bank and Coopers & Lybrand in Vietnam and Canada. He has a degree in Commerce and Political Science from the University of Toronto, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Securities License in Vietnam.

Andy Ho
Managing Director and Head of Investment

Andy Ho is Managing Director and Head of Investment of VinaCapital Investment Management Ltd, where he oversees the capital market, private equity, fixed income and venture capital investment teams. Previously, Andy was Director of Investment at Prudential Vietnam's fund management company, where he managed the capital market portfolio and Prudential's bank investment strategy. He has also held management positions at Dell Ventures (the investment group of Dell Computer Corporation) and Ernst & Young. Andy is a leading authority on capital market investment, privatisations, and private equity deals and structures in Vietnam, where he has led private placement deals totaling over USD200 million. He holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Certified Public Accountant in the United States.

Phuc Than
Managing Director

Phuc is one of Vietnam’s most experienced technology executives, having worked at Intel for 23 years, including leading Intel Vietnam since 1999. Phuc started with Intel in 1986 as a Market Development Engineer and over the next 13 years assumed several technical and marketing positions at Intel headquarters in Santa Clara, California, USA. In December 1999, Phuc moved to Vietnam as Country Manager for Intel Vietnam, where he led the development of Intel’s business to become one of the fastest growing countries for Intel worldwide. In 2002, he added Cambodia and Laos to his area of responsibility. Phuc has worked with the Vietnamese IT industry and government authorities on several initiatives to increase the adoption of information and communication technologies in the business, consumer, government and education sectors. He also played a key role in Intel’s USD1 billion investment to build a chip testing facility in Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam’s first direct investment by a leading technology company. The Vietnamese press has named Phuc one of the 10 most influential people in Vietnam in the 1999-2009 decade.  Phuc graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences.

Don Wood

Draper Fisher Jurvetson Venture Partner

Don Wood has been in the venture industry for 16 years. Don has been with DFJ since 2006 as managing director, and is now a venture partner as of 2014.  Don's primary investment focus has been energy and sustainability, consumer web, and enterprise IT.  Don led the international expansion of DFJ’s Global Network. He now serves on the faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.  
Some of Don's investments and boards (current and past) include the DFJ Global Network, Vocera Communications (VCRA), ZipRealty (ZIPR), Reflectivity (acq. by TI), BroadSoft (BSFT), Cooking.com (acq. by Target), MySoftware (MYSW), Newsle (acq. by LinkedIn), Enlighted, JIBE,TrustPilot, Oasys, Power Assure, and WaterSmart, and the Entrepreneurs Foundation, a non-profit community organization.
Don's career began with his first post-college job at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC.  He later became a ski instructor in Vail, Colorado.  After graduate school, Don became a consultant with McKinsey and Company in their San Francisco and Sydney offices.  Later he was SVP of sales and marketing at International Power Technology which designed, financed, installed, and operated co-generation power plants. Don ran marketing and service at Octel Communications (OCTL), the inventor of and worldwide leader in voicemail systems.  He co-founded Wood-Howard Products with his patent for a laminated publishing format which he later licensed to Simon and Schuster, FastMark, Rand McNally, and others; more than 100 million products have been sold under these licenses.  Don served on the board and was president of Metricom (MCOM), which provided wireless smart grid systems to utilities and pioneered the first wireless Internet service known as Ricochet.  Prior to joining DFJ, Don was a general partner at Vanguard Ventures where he invested in IT, consumer internet, and energy.  Don teaches classes in both sustainable energy and entrepreneurship at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Don earned a BA degree in economics from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Don won the "Nonprofit Board Leader Award" from The Volunteer Center of San Francisco.  Don is still trying to improve his surfing, golfing, skiing, and windsurfing.
